Tyler On Pretty Little Liars A Reveal: “It Wasn’t What I Expected”

Tyler Tyler On Pretty Little Liars A Reveal: It Wasnt What I ExpectedIf you’re a fan of ABC Family’s sudsy “Pretty Little Liars,” you surely don’t need a text message to remind you that today is A Day. Yep, after two seasons of murder, mystery and mayhem, we’ll finally learn the identity of Rosewood’s resident rabble-rouser.
It’s been a close-kept secret for the cast and crew, but there have been a few well-placed hints along the way. Despite these teases, the stars of the series were just as in the dark about the texter’s identity as we are. At least that’s what Tyler Blackburn (a.k.a. Caleb Rivers) wants us to believe.

I mean, for the actors, we were speculating for a long time, you know. We’d hear little rumors or ask questions that went unanswered, so it did kind of build it up for us,” Tyler told Hollywood Crush about the series’ central secret. “I was excited. It wasn’t really what I expected, so that makes it even more exciting.”

And though A’s identity has been the series’ major mystery, the show will most certainly go on after that tidbit comes to light.

ABC Family sets Summer Premiere Date for the Third Season of Pretty Little Liars

According to HollywoodReporter, ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars, which was named Twitter’s No. 1 TV trending topic of 2011, will return for its third season on Tuesday, June 5 at 8 p.m.

Pretty Little Liars’ Spencer, Aria, and Caleb talk ‘eerie,’ mysterious season 2 finale

Pretty Little Liars fans have been anticipating tomorrow night’s season 2 finale for months ever since it was announced that the identity of terrifying tormentor “A” would be revealed. Not only will the nail-biting episode solve the years-long mystery fueling the addictive series, it will also feature an elaborate game of cat-and-mouse at a masquerade ball. To be sure, “A” won’t be exposed without a fight, which means life-or-death stakes for the Liars.

EW talked with stars Troian Bellisario (Spencer), Lucy Hale (Aria), and Tyler Blackburn (Caleb), who teased the thrilling conclusion of this chapter of Liars. Says Bellisario, “It’s a really big [moment]. It’s a real concrete [instance when the girls] have to stand up [and] stop being scared or else it’s never going to end.”

What else the stars could reveal about the list of suspects, their characters’ relationship status, and the ball itself? At the beginning of the finale, “A” challenges the girls to uncover his/her identity… or else. Though they’re fighting for their lives, that’s not all that’s at stake after last week’s episode. We know that Spencer and Toby’s fate as a couple looks uncertain at best, but what of Aria and Ezra (Ian Harding)? Their commitment to each other may be strong, especially after their “Wicked Game”-scored sexytimes, but is it strong enough to cover the distance of Ezra’s relocation from Rosewood? “You don’t know what path he’s going to take,” says Hale. “If it was up to me, I see Aria and Ezra together.”

And what about Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Caleb after last week’s ‘A’-appeasing lip lock between Caleb and Hanna’s BFF Mona (Janel Parrish)? Blackburn assured me that Caleb is still very much in love with Hanna and that nothing will change for them before the curtain closes on season 2. As for season 3, well… “They all seem a little bit prone to chaos.”

Who the Heck Is “A”? Tyler Blackburn Teases the Big Season Finale

Snakkle: We’re big fans of Pretty Little Liars, so it’s great to have the opportunity to talk to you before the big finale. We cannot wait! First of all, congratulations on your promotion to series regular this season. I love Caleb and Hanna together, so I’m glad you’re sticking around.
Tyler:
Thank you, I’m quite excited myself.

Snakkle: How was it coming into a tight-knit group like that?
Tyler:
Well, I’ve been working on the show for over a year and at this point I feel pretty close with everybody, and the promotion to series regular was sort of like—I feel like I was finally adopted. I was sort of the godchild for a season and a half and now I’m finally adopted. So, it’s just cool. I like it. It’s a great group of people.

Snakkle: It seems with such a young cast that everyone would be welcoming and tight. Is that how you felt when you first started on the show?
Tyler:
Yeah! For sure! It’s definitely nice to have a lot of young people, and I actually like to have the balance between that and more seasoned actors—and I don’t mean that to be rude to the young actors. I’m just saying that just to have that sort of—and I don’t want to say older, either, because they might take offense to that—but you know what I mean. Just like a little bit older, like wiser. I love talking with some of the people who play the parents and stuff like that. Everybody’s been super cool, down to the crew, obviously the producers, the writers, it’s everyone. I really enjoy being there.

Snakkle: Now Caleb’s past sets him apart from a lot of the upper-crust teens in Rosewood and probably a lot of teens who watch the show. What’s your favorite thing about playing such an emotionally complex character?
Tyler:
I like that he has flaws and stuff, and as an actor being able to play a badass in one scene and cry in another is just really rewarding. And the truth is, that’s so real, you know? Anyone who is perfect all the time is full of sh*t, you know.

Pretty Little Liars’ Star Tyler Blackburn Talks Caleb’s Return, Shanking Skills

281x21142 Pretty Little Liars Star Tyler Blackburn Talks Calebs Return, Shanking SkillsIf we were to voice one complaint about ABC Family’s soapy hit “Pretty Little Liars,” it’d be that Rosewood’s resident hunks just can’t seem to stay in town. I mean, Caleb Rivers goes on more cross-country treks than a JetBlue flight attendant. (We’d date him purely for the frequent flier miles.) But, thankfully, the cutie’s returning for season two’s penultimate episode airing tonight—and just in time to get Hanna out of hot water.

Well, once again, Caleb is helping his lady love,” Tyler told Hollywood Crush in anticipation of “If These Dolls Could Talk.” “He kind of steps up to the plate and helps her to sort of figure out some mysteries revolving around A. And he’s kind of put in a really uncomfortable situation. One he doesn’t want to do, but he’s doing it for Hanna. To fans, it’s both funny and also gut-wrenching. We’ll just leave it there.”

Oh, Tyler. That’s nearly as ominous as one of A’s trademark texts! Will Caleb’s mysterious plan incite more retaliation from A? (You’ll recall a few episodes back, he was set up to take the fall for hacking school records.)

He is way too smart for that. He’s not going to be in that position again,” Tyler said. “He got out of it. It probably just pisses A off even more.”
